AUTO.EXE
Program by Joe Dorrie and Rich Buffone

This program writes to the COMMAND.COM of your DOS, permanently changing it.
It doesn't work with DOS 3.1, but does work with DOS 2.X. If you experience
any problems with this program merely copy an original COMMAND.COM over the
modified one.

-----------------
The purpose of AUTO.EXE is to allow the user to rename the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
any viable filespec and have DOS recognize it as the boot up file. Besides the
obvious fun feature of not being constricted to AUTOEXEC.BAT, it can be used as
a security procedure. After renaming and hiding this new boot up BAT file, one
can place a harmless AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the same disk to mislead any
unauthorized user.

Simply type AUTO FILESPEC.EXT
That is where the FILESPEC and EXTension are any viable filespec and extension.
Create or Rename your AUTOEXEC.BAT to that FILESPEC.EXT.
AUTO can be reused to change that filespec, even back to AUTOEXEC.BAT.
If you merely type AUTO, the program will read and display the name of the
autoexec.bat that the COMMAMD.COM will look for.

Although the program is copyrighted it can be given away and used freely,
thanks to the genorousity of Rich Buffone.
